writer, editor, author, all-around wordsmith

Shannan is a former magazine editor and the author of the short story collection Easy for You (Simon & Schuster). Booklist called her “a young, perceptive writer who can see through the shiny surface, into the human heart,” while Publishers Weekly said her stories were “threaded with humor and messiness reminiscent of Lorrie Moore.”

She was previously a writer and editor at Self, and her work has appeared in Cosmopolitan, Nylon and Glamour. Most recently she was the executive editor of the online women’s lifestyle site Glo, where she edited and contributed to the ebook Pretty Women: True Stories of Obsession, Aging and Acceptance.

Shannan has an MFA in creative writing from New York University and lives in Los Angeles.
